BlackBerry fans are probably wondering if they have Samsung’s Galaxy S III look-alike in the BB Z10. Since Galaxy S3 has more than proved its worth, launching a touchscreen smartphone that has almost the same capabilities surely isn’t such a bad idea. Here are some comparisons.
Technical specifications at a glance:

The technical specs of the two phones will tell you just how similar they are except for the different operating systems. The dimensions are just marginally different. The touchscreen size and resolution of the two phones are also similar. But the BlackBerry Z10 wins on the pixel density. Its 335ppi is far larger than the 306ppi of Galaxy S III giving better clarity.
Samsung Galaxy S III has a much faster and more powerful processing unit but has 1GB random access memory. BB Z10 has a fast-but-not-that-fast processor but double the RAM. So Galaxy will give users higher processing speed but Z10 will be better at multitasking.
There is no question Samsung Galaxy S III wins the techno-battle hands down as far as internal memory is concerned. Samsung comes in three models with differing choices in storage of 16/32/64 GB. The BB Z10 has just the 16GB option in internal memory. The extendable storage capacity is identical.
A blend of work and fun
Other features of Samsung Galaxy S III are:
- Social networking services integration,
- SMS in thread format, MMS, Instant Messaging,
- Voice command capability,
- Media player for mp3, mp4, wmv, wav, and more,
- Photo and image editor,
- Google Maps and navigation tools,
- Google Talk and Gmail,
- Viewer for Microsoft Office and PDF documents,
- TV out connection,
- “Smart Stay” tracking system,
- Predictive text with Swype keyboard.
BlackBerry Z 10 too has document viewer, social networking compatibility, imagery, BlackBerry Maps, multimedia, mail, voice dialing, and predictive text.
What Galaxy S III has in addition is access to Google Play and Android Market from where more apps can be downloaded to further improve the phone’s usability. It also has Dropbox with a storage capacity of 50GB which BB Z10 doesn’t have.
For ardent BB fans who are more into multitasking for work rather than entertainment, the BlackBerry Z 10 will definitely give better performance due to its massive RAM. If you like to download and play media files or store a lot of photos, Samsung Galaxy S III is definitely a winner.
